September 1999 - Arica Desert, Chile |
| . |

Matthieu and me have been waiting for hours in the sun, waiting for a lift to Peru, 30km North. It is noon, and it seems that we are alone on the moon. Who would cruise through this desertic plateau at the hottest hour of the day ? When suddenly, two golden-haired, crimson-faced swedish girls appeared on their overloaded bikes, out of a 15km-ascent up to the plateau where we were standing... We thought " if they can do it, we could ! ". This is how et when - a millenium ago - we made up our mind that our next trip would be by bike between Central America and Tierra de Fuego...

Emotion replaces Preparation. It feels like as a strange Tetris game, where the bricks would fit perfectly into each other by magic.
